I would have asked him, when was the last time you made a quilt?

Triple hugs to you. The quilt is absolutely beautiful. Do not pay any attention to the older man. It's really hard to respect your elders when they say such thoughtless and hurtful things. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEEL SMALL ABOUT. I wish I had the patience to hand quilt anything. I also wish I was lucky to have a quilting machine. I usually take forever just to sew buttons back on. I am sorry that the older man was SO RUDE!!!!! My 13 year old son says for me to tell you that you have absolutely nothing to feel small about. He also says to ignore rude comments. He REALLY REALLY likes your quilt.(so does his dad and older brother.)

that is sort of sad - perhaps the man's mom or grandma made quilt with scraps and all hand done so that is where he is coming from - b/c that is the only way he has ever known they are to be made - maybe drilled into him by other women in his life. Never know with people. Sorry he did it to you tho - but we can't let other people get us down about what we do. It is a beautiful quilt even tho you did use new fabric LOL LOL

Sending you a Big Hug (( ))! Some older men just talk to hear themselves talk and think they know it all. That would have been my dad. I would have told him I enjoyed making quilts this way and if it bothered him You would Go wait outside. He might have shut up! Don't let people like that make you feel bad. Your quilt is beautiful!

I'm betting that this old guy thinks that women can't drive, shouldn't vote, can't be trusted with money and on, and on :) I probably would have burst out laughing and told him that when he makes a quilt he should use old clothes for sure, but I like new fabric in my quilts!
