How do I make this longer and not wider at the same time. Is it ok to put wider borders on the top and bottom? How do I handle this. I want it to be able to cover a twin sized bed.

thanks for looking and hopefully helping.

perhaps a couple of rows of stars across the top and bottom, then more borders around the whole thing?

that's what's so wonderful about quilting. It's yours to do with what YOU want. I'd put another red border at the bottom & maybe a blue one at the top & bottom.

I suggest putting more of the background on the top and bottom to make it longer. Then the other borders could be of the same size.

I agree with taking off all the borders and adding more background to get the shape you want then put the borders on and nothing will look out of proportion
