Just don't overdo your hand. You'll be no good if your body is too stressed and it takes a longer time to recover! Work 'till you feel like you're at the point of too much. Be careful not to say, "I can do one more stitch!" Might push you over the edge.
Besides all that, you can do this! Go for it! If you don't get it done, choose a suggestion from one of your many fans. They have offered great advice. I'd say call in work with a "slick" day. Never really done this myself, but know many people who have.

I really love the pattern and fabric you chose. I'm sure you can get it done......however, here's a backup plan to consider. Grab a collection of really cute flannel and make some oversized receiving blankets with matching burpies. You can even use scraps to applique cute little things to front of onesies for a whole coordinated ensamble (sp) cheap and fast. Then you can send the quilt when the baby is born. Just a thought, just in case.

BTW, the injury was from a procedure done by the dermotologist which left a blister. Not to get too graphic but I didn't want it to leak all over the quilt so I had to wait till it healed over. I'm back to my sewing now and making progress.

Take it with you unfinished, if necessary. Then when you return to Utah, finish it and send it back. It isn't going to be used until she arrives. If anyone says anything about it being unfinished, they aren't quilters and won't appreciate it anyway!
