Thank you for all of the welcomes! I hope to get into some great discussions with all of you in one thread or another over time. I’m not a “power-poster” on the forums that I participate in, but I’ll join in when I think my post is relevant.
We’re in Frederick Oklahoma (southwest). You can learn more about my wife and I by clicking on my name and then on the link to our website that I put in my profile. I’m still reading up on the forum rules about putting links to business sites in posts, and it looks like they allow one in a signature if I place a reciprocating link back here to the forum on our site. I’m sure that’s possible. Since there’s just the two of us in our little business, and I’m the webmaster for our site, I just have to decide where best to include it.
Aside from our sewing business, we turned our entire home into our “sewing room” back in October of 2009. We currently have 32 sewing machines in our home, 12 of them in use or ready to use, and 20 of them waiting for me to get them back into action. I’m the collector in the family. My wife doesn’t have much use for a machine if it doesn’t work or she doesn’t have a sewing need for it.
Our lives right now are pretty much just about sewing. We still have our motorcycles that we ride to the shop and back, but we don’t ride to rallies all over the country anymore like we used to do. After sewing at the shop all day, she comes home to sew on “her” projects to relax. Sometimes, like this month when all of the prom dresses needed alterations for that important “just right” look, she gets behind on the shop’s regular mending, and she brings “home work” home to work on in the evenings. Otherwise, she loves to quilt, sew crafts, and makes a few garments for her or the family from time to time. I sew at the shop to help her catch up when she gets behind. I’m getting pretty good at hemming pants legs and mending holes in jeans. I put new zippers in coats and coveralls too. A lot of folks wear jeans and Carharts in this part of rural Oklahoma!
