I was thinking a combo too. Making the rust the widest.

I would do #3 but dont use the white inbetween the two colours it would be white green the rust

That would be my choice. I would use a narrow green, 2 to 3 inches, and then the rust 5 to 6 inches. I would probably use 2 and 5 or 3 and 6.

a wide border need multiple strips. At least two. I would not, however, put white as one of them. Perhaps a 6" and a 2" next to the quilt. If using the same color as the sashing, then I would put that color next to the quilt to frame it.

I like #1 the best. The second choice is too busy and takes away from the main quilt!
