I would probably skin up my fingers and knuckles when I reached in to get them. Don't think it would do for me!!

I will not store the fabric in cardboard...remember it will turn your fabric yellow and/or fade the colors out due to the acids in it.

So shoe boxes, etc are out for me, I value my investment in this fabric too much to ruin it with cardboard!

I don't buy a lot of FQs now, preferring yardage but still hold some and smaller pieces of fabric and found this perfect, so handy and takes up so little space, just behind my chair:

It's a CD rack for those who can't recognise, so cheap and easy to find

It looks like it would work, depending on drawer size. I had forgotten all about Lillian Vernon until I read your post. I used to order a lot from there because I could depend on the quality and the service.

A friend gave me one of those recently. He bought it for ties and found it did not work for him. I'm using it for thread storage and find it very useful.

I use plastic tubs. Just label the tub with the color. Works for me

I like your present system better. It looks really neat. In my opinion the dividers are a waste of money. I use "photo" boxes I buy from Joann's every time I can get them on sale. They're pretty to look at and the drawer slides out smoothly giving you an instant view of what you've got. They also have a place on the front where you tuck in a card saying exactly what is in the box. That way if you organize the FQs by color you can write it on the card. Mine just say "Fat Quarters." They're great for holding your photos too.

I'm sure that would be great but so is a plastic shoe box with lid from the dollar store. I use them all the time. Right size, stack well and clear ones let you see what is inside.
