Temporarily losing sewing room - how to organize when scattered throughout?

I had a similar problem last year. After 2 years on the market, our house finally sold. Since we did not want 2 mortgages, we did not have a place to go, so we moved in with my MIL til we found one. (She is my best-est friend, so it was not a problem! In fact, I still miss being with her every day!) Everything was going into storage. Except my sewing machine and 1 tote! I pulled all my scraps, and selected precuts together and that's all I had! We lived there for 3 months. I made lots of table toppers and used up the scraps. Not ideal for long-term, but worked for me! Good luck!
(I am attaching pix of 2 of the toppers I made during that time)

use the 13 gal totes and mark on recipe cards and tape to boxes. I did this when we moved into this house (which I still hate). and it has helped when looking for my stuff. It will get better.
and I agree, is there a basement??? That is where I had my room before we moved here. I loved it, but it wasn't completely in the ground, I had walked out deck doors to get a southern view of the place.

I purchased a brightly coloured journal, then as I filled each container, listed items in the container in my journal along with the number of the container and where it was located - each container had its own number and in my journal listed the numbers along with location.
Therefore journal looked as follows:
# Type Items Location
#1 notions -needles-scissors-pins-stitch pickers lr closet
#2 notions -rulers-stencils-templates-loop turner 1bd clst
Hope this helps you out. My things were in storage for a couple of years, but found this worked really well for us.
The colour of the journal helped to never misplace it.

I have a bench table that I use to cut, piece, plan, and don't feel I can give that up. Then I have my sewing machine and cabinet. I'll probably move the bench into the living room and the sewing machine w/cabinet into the kitchen.
Then there are the fabric bins and supplies. My house was built in 1896 so there is no storage to speak of, so I guess some tossing out / donating will need to happen.
I'm okay with this whole thing so my question is: how do you psychologically deal with your sewing stuff being scattered? How do you keep it together in your head?
Since this will make all rooms not look like anyone thing belongs in them, I def won't be winning any House Beautiful awards!

If you have wall space, put up shelving and get some pretty baskets... room to store things close and yet it still looks somewhat "put together" for you.
And you can keep the tools and materials for each project together. Say you're working on 2 or 3 quilts, have each one in a separate container so you can just pull one out to work on the specific project.
Also - over the door shoe containers! The ones with the pockets. Put the sharp/dangerous stuff in the top slots and the fabric closer to the bottom.
