I gave a used Handi Quilter frame set up to my daughter. I bought it thinking I would use it on smaller items instead of putting them on my longarm. She contacted me and asked about my thoughts of her purchasing a Viking Mega Quilter to use on the frame. Since I have no experience with that particular sewing machine or the frame for that matter, I'm asking any of you that will offer your input to do so.

I had a Mega Quilter on a HQ frame and it was great. The only reason I sold it was to get a larger throated machine. It's a nice set up.

We have the Pfaff equivalent and after an initial learning period we love it. We have quilted up to queen size with it on the Imperial frame.

I think you can use any of the straight stitch machines on it. JUki and Brother 1500s are a couple. They only have 9 inch throats.
Wesing, how do you like the imperial frame, I just bought one but havnt gotten it yet?

We love it. It's supposed to hold up to king size, but we haven't attempted one that big. I assembled it myself and didn't have any real trouble, but either I lost some pieces or they weren't in our package so I had to make a trip to the hardware store.

We hope to upgrade to the 18/8 machine someday. Our biggest complaint now is the limited throat space of the machine.
