Mother, grandmothes, aunts, etc. all had many pincushions. I don't know where I went wrong - must have been something lacking in my upbringing LOL. I've always kept pins in a cute little tin of some kind, and later in the plastic cases they came in. I have several machines and there's always a container of pins within easy reach.
Pincushions, huh??? something to think about....

I have 2 regular size pincushions, which I was forever losing. So, I decided to make one that would be impossible to lose. I found a print in my stash of spools of thread and threaded needles, cut it into six 7" squares, and made a big block-shaped pincushion that is impossible to lose sight of! I put a small bag of gravel in the bottom to give it stability, and filled it with polyester. I love it. It holds lots and lots of pins, and I never misplace it!

OMgosh. I thought I had a lot on my shelves but yours are absolutely awesome. Now I don't feel so bad about collecting them and joing any pin cushion swaps I find. Thanks for sharing. A little green here. LOL

I have quite afew pincushions, but could use more. The owl is adorable. I have at least 2 per room, but still never have one where I need it. I'll have to make another. What do most of you use for the inside??

Nice collection, very creative. I love the made in occupied japan one with the men holding the cushion, but the most practical one has to be the large one in the back.

I collect the old ones, love the wear that they show over the years. I also collect the old sewing kits.

Show me your pincushions! What's your favorite?
