Yes, three times. Third time is the charm? Well, it meant is was time to buy a cuttung glove. Order one from Fons and Proter. Hasn't happened since.

We jokingly call one of my friends Nine Fingers because she does it so often. I teach my students to close the cutter after each cut and where to place their hands to be as safe as possible.

Ten years ago, when I started quilting, I had the tip of my left index finger too close to the edge of the ruler and took the rotary cutter right into it, about 1/8"----no stitches but boy did it bleed! Scared me silly! I learned quickly to be very careful of where I place my hands on the ruler when cutting!

The question should be how many times have you ever cut yourself? :)

No serious cuts, but boy have I cooked some skin with the applique iron. My current one looks like it might leave a small scar on the left arm. Reminder that they are HOT, something my brain still hasn't remembered.

I think the list of who hasn't cut themselves is probably shorter.
I used to read a quilting blog and the woman posted photos of her rotary blade accident, bloody finger before and then with stitches. Who takes time to photo your finger before leaving for the ER? I know she did it before because cutting mat was in the background. I had to quit that one.
Most importantly, hope you didn't bleed on your fabric.

This is exactly what I fear most, so I purchased the AccuQuilt cutter and lots of dies. I figure it's worth the cost - can you imagine cutting off the end of your finger? Not worth it to me! Plus my stuff is always cut accurately. Since I'm petite, it was very difficult to get good straight strip cuts.

I am very careful. Cringe just thinking about it.
