I have seen a few people use rechargable mustache trimmers. They hold the two pieces of fabric apart and just trim away, pulling up on one piece of the fabric while holding the other piece down with the edge of the hand that is holding the trimmer (not sure if that makes any sense, lol). It seems to work well and goes fast. I've been meaning to check the prices on those.

Wonderful recommendations! I'm headed to Hancock's in the morning to see what they have at 50% off. Also, going to see if my doctor son can get some of the scapel ones for me (free, hopefully!). Have tried the moustache trimmers (found at Walgreen's) but didn't work for me. I also use the seam ripper for taking out emboideery and it works well unless it is on a knit item and then it is a pain in the b***!

Me, six or seven, I lost count.

I love the Clover brown handled ripper. It is light and so easy to use. Recently I had not seen them in the shops I go to most frequently so I bought several on my trip this summer. I was afraid they had stopped making it! (Panic!)

I can't see that working. I can barely get a seam ripper between the fabric, and that's only after I've already done the "clip through every third stitch on the back and pull off the thread in the front"

Like my Fons&Porter seam ripper, too, except for the lid not staying on. So I found a lid from a ball point pen that fit perfectly, just snug enough but not too snug. It came from a red pen so it matches!!Love the rubber end for coaxing out those little threads.

Well, I haven't been able to find ANY of the seam rippers recommended on here. I only have Hancocks in my area...well Hobby Lobby too but they have reduced their quilting and sewing notions.

I did have a kinda odd experience in Hancock's. I met another quilter in the quilting notions area and we got to talking. I told her that I was a newbie and still trying to get my quilting notions especially looking for a seam ripper. I even showed her my list that I made from reading your responses. She said "oh, I like the folding one". I said I know but they don't seem to have any here. She then told me that they did have TWO of the folding ones but "I got both of them so no need for you to look for them". She even told me she had several of them at home. I was kinda shocked. I may be totally wrong in my thinking but I would have at least offered one of them to the other person, especially if she was trying to get started. She even showed them to me in her basket!!!

Oh well, I'll find one somewhere...BUT she had invited me to their next quild meeting and now how can I go and see her there w/o thinking about this situation. (sigh)

I like the Bernina one too. It is small and the blade is too.

A wonderful Board Member who also happens to live in my state sent me 5 (yes 5!!!) of the little red seam rippers. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!
