    I like the simple 9 patch idea, but you could also do pinwheels, have them all go the same direction and it would be a neat looking quilt, sashing or no sashing

    Nine patch irish chain looks simple, refined and is easy!
    It works with just two fabrics too.
    Either variation sounds wonderful !
