Welcome from Raymore, MO. I'm a member of Raymore Quilt Guild, and also a separate group, Stitch 'n Time Gals. The smaller group meets every Monday at Hancock's in Belton. Sometimes we work on charity quilts, or take a day field trip. Often we work on embroidery projects. Sit around, talk and have coffee. Go to lunch at HyVee, visit some more, and then start to leave for home or errands. Several return to HyVee for another 1 or 2 hours before heading home. We've trained husbands and family NOT to schedule appts. on OUR day!!! Took nearly a year to get them to accept the concept, but we finally succeeded.
We are meeting today to sub-cut sewn strips for a bargello. 10 of us are doing the same project in a fabulous variety of colorways. We all enjoy this group thoroughly.
Glad to have you joining the board. Have you considered making a small quilt first and using it as a wall hanging? The completion of a project is a real reward.

Welcome from another KS member.Since I don't work I try to get my morning fix of reading this board every morning. It is so fun, motivating, and inspiring. Good luck w/ your project. You could also consider a wall hanging around a bird theme as your first project, just a thought. I from the Olathe area, maybe our paths will cross sometime.

Good for you for getting them to a rehabber. So many people try to do it themselves and there is just alot more to it than simply feeding. And the amount of bad information on the internet on how to take care of animals is just unbelieveable. I would like to hear how they do.

Well, I agree with everything you are saying. My plan was to make something just a little larger than a baby quilt. Like maybe a throw blanket that I could use on couch.
But my friend was doing some figuring of measurements and said by adding a few more blocks each direction, I could have a comforter.
I need to make a decision. I do agree that it will seem daunting to start a project and still be working on it a year from now with no end in sight. I would like to have a finished project that I can brag a little on and then move on to the next one. That is if I enjoy it.
