I'd prefer to machine sew all at once, but I only do the top then hand sew the back. Because for some reason it moves, never stay where I put it, then I have to do it by hand anyway.

Sew on front and hand stitch on the back for personal quilts. But charity quilts will stitch on machine from back to front When hand stitching I use bling stitch.

Machine stitch to the front, hand stitch to the back.

I always sew mine by hand; it looks nice and it relaxes me.

I have a question for those that do the decorative stitch on the front.

Where does it fall on the back side of the binding. Is it on the binding or on the back or does it cross the seam?

    Thanks

I am a quilter who sews the binding to the front and hand stitches it to the back. I can sit and sew it while watching TV with the DH and it is a very satisfying ending to the process that has taken a lot of time.

I LOVE the look of binding machine sewn to the front of the quilt and then brought to the back and hand bound.

Thank being said, I always machine bind because I don't have the patience. :)

You can't beat the look, but I just CAN'T sit still that long with a needle and thread.
