I love Border version 1 too - but it does look wide, what size are you doing it? With my 10in blocks, my narrow border was only about 1 1/2in wide, and if you are intending to make yours wider, do check on the big outer border first, otherwise, please bear in mind that it might not fit. I would hate it if you made yards of the narrow borders and then that happened.
I am making 10" blocks. Thank you for catching my error. I looked at the cutting chart and Aie cut her strips 1 1/2" wide and I added for shrinkage and cut mine 2 1/2" wide. I need a finished 1 1/2" border. I didn't have any shrinkage in the width, so I will cut my narrow borders 2" wide. Is that what you did?
After I wrote that, I checked on mine, and they finish to 1 1/2inches, so 2in cutting will be fine. Those little sashing pieces that I embroidered hearts on also finish 1 1/2in, though in the pattern that was given here, I actually cut them at 2 1/2in then trimmed down to 2 in. Hope that all makes sense.

Thanks everyone. I'm more cheerful this morning - a new day with some sunshine.

Its Fathers Day tomorrow and we will visit DH in hospital and then lunch at my sons. It will be his first Fathers Day so smiles all round.

Just keeping up with all the chatter here is a comfort and gives me something to smile about.

Deecee, I was startled when I read that tomorrow is Father's Day and then I realized that you live in Australia. I hope your DH has a good Father's Day and is home again soon. I am working on my narrow borders while my DH watches a college football game. I got bored and decided to check out the board. Enjoy yourself with your son tomorrow.

Losie, you can make your border any width you want. Just remember to make the plain sashing strips that go between Blocks #1 & #2, #5 & #6, #31 & #32, and #35 & #36, plus those on the sides that border the 4 corners the very same width. I made the mistake of thinking that Lesley's hearts were 2 1/2" wide & forgot to make the border as wide. Sooooo, I drew up my own curly wurly sashing strip design.

Here is a sneak peek, pinned all the borders on, working on the last border, then will fit it all together, that will be a challenge, figure out the corners, then finish and will post again at that point - on finished AFOTH.

Kathy, I want to sort out the heart problem - when I drew it out so that it could be done as a pdf here (so sorry, can't remember who did it, I just put it on a 2.5in background to give her a way of registering in order to get the pdf to come out the right size, but it fits perfectly into 2in, so that it will be 1.5in finished - just don't cut the fabric so wide, or trim off before putting between the blocks.

WooHoo Donna....that is just simply breath taking!!! I love your outer border...great idea! Simple, yet "full of heart"!! LOL!!! No, really, I do love it!

Kathy, that is what I was thinking...you just add a bit larger piece of sashing at the corners if you choose to adjust the size of your inner narrow border.
