I will be interested in the answers -- I haven't found anything that really works well. I tried the disappearing pens and they disappear too fast here near the water. And Olympia WA is too damp also. I don't wash my quilts after I finish hand quilting. -- so the washables don't work either.

I use whatever works best. So far most of the time it is blue marker, pencil or chalk.

I just looked the pens up. It said on the youtube video that the marks will reappear in temps below 14 degrees. Ok I know most of us don't have to worry about that but that means its still on the quilt. Does that concern you at all?

The blue water erasable pens and white Clover fine marking pen that is also water soluble. Just recently purchased a couple of the Frixion pens also.
Had a problem with yellow chalk marker dying my white thread when I used it, so no more chalk for this girl.

I use the fine lead mechanical pencil on light fabrics...on darker fabrics I use my old chalk wheel...the one with the tiny serrated teeth. I have them in blue, yellow, pink and white. I've had them for over 20 years (they were very cheap way back when) and for once I had the foresight to buy extra powder refills.

I've just discovered the Frixion pens and they are wonderful. You can find them at Staples 3/5.99!

Same here!! Pink is my favorite because it shows on dark and lights.

Markers that disappear with water. I try to mark as little as possible, working on more free motion motifs when possible.
