I mostly use the Coats & Clarks Dual Duty cotton covered poly threads for most of my piecing.
Seems to hold up well, my machines are still working, and it WAS easily accessible.
Of course, my machines are "older" - my newest one is a Pfaff purchased in the 1980s - the others are older.

what is it about Coats and Clark thread??? that is about all I use. I donn;t have any problems with it. My machine likes it and it is a Viking. I don't notice the lint as a matter of fact I have used other thread and have more lint. I have tried Gutterman and I use the cotton. Have some connecting thread essntial thread trying that for the first time. but I do notice some threads do produce more lint than others,

Piecing with Superior's Masterpiece, Quilt with King Tut
I used Coats and Clark all my life for sewing clothes and costumes. Then I bought a new machine and the store said Coat's and Clark would not be good for the machine so I switched to Superior. Took a class called a Thread Bar that went over the various types of thread at Superior. So that is what I use and really like all the colors and variations.

I love Aurifil and so do all my machines. I used to think C&C was cheaper until I compared yardage on the spool. Found that Aurifil is actually a tad less per yard. I won't use serger thread (polyester) because I've had problems accidentally melting it with my Clover mini-iron.
