I was gonna ask, how old is the thread and is it of quality? in other words not the 5 for a dollar (although some of that thread is better than the 2.50 a spool thread) and have you taken a break from it re-read the manual on how to thread it and then re-thread it ..Sometimes when I am angry with my machine, its time for a break from all of it and walk outside, play with dog, or just get on the computer and go to the board !LOL

When your thread breaks, look at the threading of
the top thread. Is it wound twice around the part
that goes up and down which advances your thread?
I have found that happening with my machine, but
not all the time. Especially when I do FMQ.

I have a machine that will constantly snap needles when FMQ. It is the tension system, it has 2 discs that go together to regulate tension. It stops the feed of the thread and that tension would snap the needle. Wonder if you have something along those lines? Is your thread old?

I haven't read all the comments but I know when that happens to me I need to rethread my machine as thread jumps out of tension. Another problem I had was putting the thread spool " backwards" thread coming off front or back--still don't have that right but changed it and all was ok. Maybe your problem?

I believe it is called darning with the feed dogs up. Check your thread and how to threead your machine. Then put in a new needle one that is recommended for that weight thread. You can get this info at Superior Threads. Good Luck.

I had the same problem yesterday and I have a new machine, I tried all of the above but the only thing that worked was going from a quilting needle to a universal needle. The eye on the quilting needle must have been too small. Works fine now. good luck

Try a different brand of thread? My DM only likes 1 brand for FMQing. I can use lots of brands for regular sewing but the minute I try to quilt with them they break...sooo I have spools of the one it likes that I save just for that.
