It's beautiful. I think it should be hand quilted. What a gift she gave you. Wonder how old it is??!!

I guess I am a tradionalist, I say hand quilt it or find someone that can do it for you. I have seen your work and its beautiful but I think this one says handquilt all over it!

wow beautiful how lucky for you...tough decision...you do beautiful quilting but i think handquilting will keep more in line with the vintage quilt...either way it will be great

What a wonderful gift! I would have it hand quilted in my VHO. If you didn't hand quilt, then I would keep it simple so it would not distract from the beauty of hand piecing.

Wonderful surprise---love it. I have just recently become interested in GFG quilts and I must say that I have never seen instructions to just hand piece the way this one is---everything I've come across advocates EPP.
Might be less work doing it the way your friend did.
    Enjoy, Kutnso

What a prize! Handquilting would really set off the piecing but is very time consuming.

A hand pieced quild deserves hand quilting. It is lovely no matter what you decide. I just think that hand quilting would do honor to the quilt and the person who made it.
