    Beautiful! I would definitely hand quilted them or find someone that would. It would be a pity to machine quilt heirlooms like that. Just my opinion!

    With older quilts and old threads you need to be care when stretching on a longarm frame. If you have a LAQ quilt them they might have you apply thin muslin behind the top so as to not pull the seams too much on the sewing table.

    I'm in agreement with many here that the quilts would look lovely if hand quilted.

    It looks like the maker's own interpretation of this feathered star pattern.

    This is the closest pattern that I've found, but it looks like the maker re-oriented two of the blocks above the four small squares to make a "heart" shape and replaced the diamonds at the tips with HST's.
