Oh Yumm! I just love those colors all together. Another reason I like Fall. Our peak is past by a week and a half or so. Now dull yellow and leaves falling everyday.

Love those "weeds". I brought home seeds from some in NY state when we were there one fall, and planted in my yard. Did find out about the suckering up in a couple years, but I can't beat the fall color! and love the dark red upright seed pods. Haven't decided if we'll "weed it out" or not.

This is sumac. This year ours is the prettiest it has ever been. Who would have thought that a drought would do this.

Now I want to make a fall quilt  Don't you just love the beauty of this world!
I guess I can quote myself  I stand corrected, several have mentioned that it is Sumac, so, I googled images, and sure enough, thats what it is. I learned that it is a shrub & it grows on road sides and in the edges of fields. It depends on birds and animals to spread its seeds. They love the berries and it provides shelter too. So again I have learned something new today from this board. Thanks

Beautiful pictures! I grew up in the back country roads of WI and these trees are abundant. We used to call them Sumac trees and growing up we would make forts out of them. Similar to the way they make their shelters on 'Survivor'. Your pictures bring back memories.
I wouldn't call them weeds. Lots of wildlife, especially the birds, use them as shelter. We would find deer beds below the trees. These can grow 15-18 ft tall.
