    Bernina makes Bernette

I guess they don't make them - they are just under them.

I heard or read somewhere that Husquevarna (Viking) and Pfaff are now made by the same company????

My new Pfaff has some things suspiciously like my Viking>

Bernettes used to be (often) made by Janome, for Bernina. Sort of like Janome made Kenmores for Sears. I don't think it applies to the newest Bernettes, the 12, 15, 20, and 25. Pfaff is owned by the same company that owns Singer and Viking. They have a less expensive Hobby line., which isn't necessarily made by the same factories that make other Pfaffs.

Bernina is the only family owned sewing machine company left. Everything else is owned by a company or group of companies that manufacture multiple brands. Bernina does not make their Bernette line.

I have heard that the same company now owns Singer, Viking and Pfaff. Janome makes Kenmore and Elna. Berninas are still made by Bernina in Switzerland, but the Bernette line is made in Asia and their sergers are made by Juki.
