Yes, I have used my $1 yard sale find! I found it saves my fingrs when doing detailed raw-edge (iron-on) applique.

I received one as a gift and it's still in the original package. The iron and ironing board are too handy.

I use mine all the time as I love needle turn applique and the pieces are quite small. Can't be without it!!
I also found that when its hot the little stand they provide is useless - so I now rest it inside a long cylindrical metal biscuit tin, and I also use the tin for storing the iron afterwards.

I have one and use it all the time. I keep a pad by my sewing machine and press seams when I need to so I can assemble blocks.

I bought one several years ago. I use it mostly to apply "hot ribbon" around applique. I have also used it for other small projects. Not sure what I would use for a substitute if I didn't have a mini iron.
