I also refer to quilting as My Passion! It's what centers me again after a long stressful work day! It's what gets me through the long football season when my DH takes over the TV's. It's what gets me through being an empty nester. It's what gets me excited when the Houston International Quilt Festival begins!

I too do not care for 'hobby' to describe quilting. I do it because I enjoy creating an original unique art piece. It takes a lot of skill, time, and a comment to produce a quilt. As well as the right tools and materials. I like it so much that I started a quilt related business back in 1997.

So-sew, I know what you mean. To me it's an art form and a creative form of expression (to me anyway)
But it's a hobby in the sense that I do it in my free and fun time- but I don't like the word either! LOL

Oh goodness, this is such a touching word...hobby. Let me see, yes I have a hobby (quilting)that I do every day, yes I have a hobby that I sometimes sell, yes it is a hobby that is a passion, yes I usually quilt as many hours as my full time job. So yes it is probably a hobby.....and I will accept that....but please dont say to me ' you are so crafty'. I am not a crafter...I am a quilter, HEAR ME ROAR!

yes because I do not do it for a living, nor do I do it to please anyone else. I just do it for fun and I enjoy it. Guess it's a hobby.
