Flying on Thanksgiving day to WA State where the grandchildren are. We discovered last year that flights are much cheaper and the airports are much less crowded. So we will have our feast on Friday. No one seems to mind. I make the turkey, mashed potatoes and apple cobbler. Daughter in law and her sister take care of the rest. then hubby makes gumbo with the leftover turkey carcass and some of the turkey. We always make an extra turkey breast for sandwiches and a special casserole my daughter in law makes.

My AF son, who is stationed in Hawaii, but deployed in the Middle East for the last 7 mos, will be home for Thanksgiving. I will hopefully be able to eat the regular diet, meaning I cannot chew for at least 3 weeks due to jaw surgery.
I also usually have an orphan holiday... Anyone who does not have a place to go can come here in addition to what remains of my family.
    Happy Day!
    Susan

Same as always. I have two DDs and one son in law and one grandchild. SIL has no parents so we have all holidays at my house. DDs stay the night and we go to Black Friday! We've gone to Black Friday for years. We have a blast.

I am off this year, I thought about offering to work for someone. Holidays are hard for me because well, lots of reasons. I hope you all with the close families truly are thankful :)

Year after year Thanksgiving has fallen on me. Im the only one that works full time and a farm to run to boot. somehow Thanksgiving is always at the farm. It is just way too much for me to handle anymore. Soooo Hubby and I have started to take our horses and go camping in the woods. we have our Thanksgiving on a picnic table and have a great and relaxing time! No cleaning the house, no endless hours of cooking and no cleaning the house afterwards. and no high calorie left overs. do miss turkey left overs though. ;)
