Baby Lock Espire, Pfaff 7550 for backup, Pfaff Grandquilter for the frame. What I would love to have is a Baby Lock with a built-in walking foot and a mid-arm quilting machine like the HQ16. Then I sing "Dream a little dream...."

I have a Pfaff Varimatic 6085 and by changing the feet I can do just about anything I ask of it. What would I like? The Pfaff Expression 4.0. I'd love to have another basic machine so I don't have to switch out feet so often, but I also like to buy fabric.

I love the Brother machines, they do for a very small price almost as well as the fancy, expensive ones, I have a SQ9000 which is my steady work horse and then bought a QC1000 Brother from someone on the board and she, the LQS lady and a friend can thread it properly and it works great, has a nice wide harp....does anyone on the board have one, I really need a lesson the threading it properly and everyone who has helped has been able to thread it properly, but i am really haveing a SENIOR HOUR, not minute....HELP...but it is me, not the machine at all...would truly recommend the Brother for cost, attachments, quality anbd durability...many of their attachments (different feet are standard, not extra cost()..

Have a 37 yr old Kenmore that I once sewed clothes with and is now my backup machine. Taught myself some 9 years ago to FMQ on my MIL's (then) 20 year old Viking. About 6 years ago I "splurged" on a computerized Viking Platinum 750 for about 1K at end of model year sale and about 300 for accessory package w/ extension table, extra feet, etc. Use it for everything - curtains, occasional clothing, repairs and of course, quilting! My DH custom built my sewing table around it. Used to think I would someday get a machine with stitch regulator but now think not due to mixed reviews on them and also, many of the "pros" don't use them. Check out Leah Day's work on Daystyle Quilting site - she rocks!
