Default Which way do Christmas stockings go?

I feel really stupid asking this question. Which way are Christmas stockings supposed to go? Does the toe point to the left or the right? I'm making some for a fair I'm in and realized that they go both ways, not sure if this is right. Some of the fabric I bought was kind of pricey and I want to use it only on the front of the stockings. Help?

I usually have my toes pointing to the left - as if they were going forward

I do them both ways when I did craft shows. When I dids mine for mantel I did 2 left 2 right. There really is no special way!

I have no idea for the reason but I always hang mine toes pointing to the left.

I would make them both ways to surround my fireplace.

Toes pointing left seems natural to me.

I don't think there is a right or wrong direction and I, also, don't think it's a stupid question. My family's stockings go
both ways. I made some and purchased others. I really had never given it any thought before your post. I'm getting ready to order some from a catalog and they all point to the right.

Why not put designs on both sides and it won't matter.
