Hi well thanks everyone for your encouragemnent and kind words wow I am blown away. I couldnt have done the mats without hubby and have been telling him what a great job he did and relayed all your good wishes- he is very modest but delighted he could help me. I got the fabrics from the fabric shack. There postage is the cheapest to Ireland. I ran short of the Cardinal fabric and finally ran down some that was almost identical from the fat quarter shop. They were really quick to deliver.
I just love Cardinals and was really delighted to see how they turned out. I saved the mat pattern to pdf format just so as to have them for next year, but actually had to cut down my mats a little once they were made- they were supposed to be 12 x 18 finished but lost about an inch on both sides afterwards- i dont know how that happened!
