    a darning foot should have the spring on it, also called a quilting foot or hopping foot. do you have it on correctly? ck your manual or ck with the place where you bought it or your machine. good luck.!

    Yes, check and see if you have it on correctly. I have done that before.

    thank you all for your much needed advice it is greatly appreciated---and i did need another darning foot (wasn't the correct one for my machine)---problem solved !!!!!! thanx again!!!!!!
