I have to ask again, how wide are the floral and light colour strips cut and the size of each block with the second way you have designed the block.
I think it is a very beautiful quilt.

In both the florals at 1.5" and the lights 1". The finished size of the block is 7.5" ... the new one will be the same. :D

All I can say is WOW! I have always liked Log Cabin and now you have shown me how to do a watercolor without all of those 2 inch squares. Whatever layout you do with them seems to be spectacular. I think I will have to try making a quilt like that at my upcoming retreat.
Thanks for the ideas.

I haven't done the log cabin but I like the looks that you have come up with.

Your sunflower fabric is a nice choice, but a very strong print. If you look at the block selection where the darks all come together you can get a woven effect if you rearrange your last colors. I think if you step back you will be able to see it. It could add another interesting dimension to your quilt.

I like the watercolor choices. Very nice contrasts.

I LOVE it!
I have a log cabin my mother started, this has inspired me to get going and finish it! I'm not fond of her colors, but then I think I'll make one for me using the watercolor flowers, too!!!! BEAUTIFUL -- BTW - EITHER way is going to be outstanding, I think!

In the very center, it appears to have a floral and a light? each 1.5 by 1.5??

Yes--esqmommy--that is correct!

This quilt is already together for those who are offering suggestions!! Sorry!! The photos were attached only to make a comparison in block design...

I think the sunflower print doesn't fit at all but it could be the picture not showing it as it is. I like the way you converted the block to suit you. You have lots of creativity!
