never actually seen a machine with a fuse. the two "fuse looking things" in my power cord are merely straight brass plugs, so that the foot pedal may be disconnected from the motor.

Irishrose,
You are quite right, I would love your machine, I have 3 blacksides, two with standard striated covers and one that used to be but came to me stripped, so is wearing standard Chrome parts. I someday would very much like to have one with the black grapeleaf plates.
If your machine is not realy gunky a few drops of oil in the oil point holes should have her purring in no time. They are just so simple and have so few parts it really does not take much. You should really give her a chance before you send her off with some stranger.
Seriously I am just giving you a hard time, I understand needing to make room etc, just think you should at least try her so you can at least say you have.

I sewed on her in the seller's home. After a bit of threading correctly and adjusting the tension, she sewed very well. I haven't sewn with her here because I won't sew with a dirty machine and I haven't taken the time to clean her. She isn't dirty, just dusty and the inside seems clean. Have you dropped the back cover down inside one of your machines? That was odd. It just shifted and fell into the machine as I was removing it to look inside the machine. I couldn't get it out. My son came along and shook it out.
