Default What do you do with used (dead) rotary blades?

I have a pecking order -- first I use them for fabric, next I use them for paper. After that, I put them in old holders and store them.

How do you safely dispose of the old blades?

I try to find two cans in my recycle bin ..one large one small . Put the blades in the large can, then insert the small can . Since they are metal they can be recycled.

After I use them for all I can get out of them (fabric ... paper .. etc) I put them in an old altoid tin. When that gets full I'm taking it among with other metals to recycling station. In some kind of container, they can go in recycling. I send more to recyclers than to trash/landfill .... finally!

I use the old Altoid can also...but I use a piece of duct tape written with "old blades"...tape extends over edge as an extra sealing option...I drop things alot, so...I don't want them spilling out.

Before disposing of in your recyclables, check that it is permissable in your area.
It's a huge NO-NO here ... for the obvious safety reasons.

I keep rotary blades, machine needles, pins, etc. safely stored in my home and then take them to a sharps (needles) disposal.

I wrap them in duct tape and throw in the trash.

I have been keeping mine in a used Crystal light container and will try this company for exchange/purchase. http://www.lpsharp.com/3.html Maybe another QB member has done this and can provide feedback.

I bring my old blades, bent pins, and used needles to the BloodMobile when I go donate blood and they dispose of all my sharps for me. The blades I pack in paper towel then in a zip lock, the pins/needles I put in an old prescription bottle.
