Congratulations Krystyna.....so glad you won the First Prize in the contest. Yep, you had my vote....I really did think your scarf was the prettiest!!!

Ohhhh and speaking of my mother's arranged marriage....holy mackerel, when I talked to her about it, she said, " he was a nice man, he never beat me." I nearly died when she said that!!! I guess back in the day, it was a common occurrence??? Scary thought.

When I was first introduced to DH's maternal grandmother (by him), she was in a nursing home and the first thing she asked me was if he beat me.....come to find out that her husband, long dead, had apparently pounded on her some when he was drunk, which I guess was a bit of the time. I always thought it kind of funny, til I got that bit of back story, then it was just sad....in those days don't think there was much of anyplace to go get away from it...and not much way to support yourself either!
