Default Superman Log Cabin...hmm

I found this quilt while browsing and was trying to figure out if there was a way to make a log cabin quilt like this but with the Superman logo (made the same way this T is) on it. I've never made a log cabin before so have no idea how I would go about making it. It would be for my brother, although I'm no where near ready to start it, just want to plan it out. Here's the quilt I'm talking about: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hamncheezr/3115635081/

Humm where you thinking about making a "S" in lieu of the "T" ...bet your could do that with the darker blocks to make it stand out.

Yes, you could do the letter "S":

3 across
1 down (on the left)
3 across
1 down (on the right)
3 across

hmmmm..........

like this:

but you would be starting this right under the top orange and ending just above the bottom orange. In other words you would not have the white row above the "S" - - -

You could also do this in smaller log squares throughout and then maybe keep the top and bottom white rows.

You can probably get an "S" as Mom3 has outlined, but something that resembles the logo is going to be challenging. Since the base of the logo is a point, you might want to play around with the the whole quilt set on point. Draw some generic log cabin blocks, put them on point and use colored pencils to doodle.

Sorry cant help. Just wanted to say I love your fur baby. Love mine, he is my constant companion. Right now mine is curled up on his couch (gave him an old love seat) on top of one of my quilts, keeping his eye on me. Such a big baby.

Oh don't get discouraged. It may sound overwhelming but just take a step at a time. Light blocks and dark blocks and you have it made. You could even do the S with a reds. and maybe the others with blue. That would make it more supermanish.

Thank you, I'm not really discouraged its just I have no idea how to figure out where to put certain colors or strips. I would like to put that shield looking thing around the "S" like in the logo but have no idea how. Would graph paper better help me to plan it out than regular printer paper? If so what kind would I get?
