I've never used a sheet, but have friends who do. They say to get the ones with the lowest thread count (aka the cheapie ones) and they will work fine. Love your quilt, by the way. I think I'll try this and use the little twister heart pattern for the center.

I had a friend that bought a sheet for this quilt she made and the gal that does her longarm quilting told her to wash it 4 times and then she could use it.

Good to know that LA quilters might have a problem with sheets. I have heard that they can be difficult for hand quilters. i say go for it,too.

I've have had clients bring sheets for me to use as a backing on their quilt and have never had a problem with sheets at all. My Gammill is up to the job.

My sister had a longarmer quilt dozens of quilts and all my sister used for backing was pretty sheets. No problem. I don't know what kind of machine she had.

I quilt on my DSM and I have always used sheets! Sometimes I can find 350 thread count and they were so soft and cuddly , they almost felt like flannel! Don't buy anything 250 thread count or less though and GOOD LUCK,ENJOY!!!!

I have used sheets many times before and will again. I have sent them to the long arm quilter also and she has never complained once. I even made a beautiful lap quilt out of a Waverly sheet and put the companion fabric on the back which I quilted on my Bernina. I have no complaints about these quilts.

As a project for a friend, I agreed to LAQ a quilt she'd made for a grandson. She brought a sheet for the back. Well, live and learn. The tight weave played havoc with the action of the machine. No needles broken, although I did change needles several times. The top thread would go down and be caught just fine, but the weave put so much pressure on the thread, it didn't always come back up. Big loops all over the back side. Of course it didn't act up when I was testing it. It took me days to get it all ripped out. More practicing and many calls to the manufacturer, I finally called the friend and explained the situation. She said she wasn't concerned, her grandson wouldn't even notice. I didn't charge her, but I'll never do it again.
