What a steal! I am sure you will do the quilt maker justice and finish her treasures beautifully.

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful treasure trove of quilt tops - they look marvelous. One year someone took her appliqued kittens in a basket, put it together for our church's raffle quilt and it made quite a bit of money. The woman who won it loves cats, how poetic. You got a bargain indeed.

He's probably very happy to have gotten rid of them and given them to someone who is going to love them. I scored a Featherweight that way too. Yep, you won the lottery!! I agree with some others in saying that you ought to do something very nice. Maybe a nice dinner out for him and your auntie. Lucky girl!

My "uncle" story resembles yours--somewhat. Only my uncle gave away the quilts made by my grandmother to a "friend" of his. My grandmother had made them for his GDs, but we never got to see them. I am still sad, so I hope that the "boyfriend" isn't forgetting about some nieces who expected to receive these quilts. In the mean time--congrats!

I agree with Momma Bear 61 that it would be great to try to put a name to each one. As best as the old gentleman can remember. This is a wonderful quilting history that would be fun to keep. imo
