For some reason, I have not been a fan of the snail's trail blocks. However, you have done an absolutely beautiful job of adding your special touch to give it a whole nother look!! The colors are great & I love the ingenuity of adding the tails & the faces. SOOOOOO cute!! Congrats on a job very well done!

Somebody posted a similar quilt January 24th on this board. She said that the pattern was out of worldquilters magazin.
Looking at it I figured it could be done with any size of snail trail blocks. Gladie was so nice to send me a 9 inch snail trail pattern for paper piecing. I did not "finish" the blocks, I only added three rounds of triangles. The biggest triangles I assembled seperately, that way it was much easier to add the tails (hand applique) and the heads (embroidery.com)it also was possible to put a triangle of background fabric under the chin of the monkeys. Then I joined the blocks on point as you can see on the picture. The finished size is 74" x 65 "
I love it and I think it also could be done with frogs.........without tails of course:-)

Now it will have to wait for quilting till my Horizon is back from repair.

    Thanks for looking

Wow, so much talent and creativity on this board. Haven't been quilting long so I appreciate the generosity of all the sharing of ideas and "how-to" that goes on in these posts.

    Granny_59, your quilt is adorable.

What a great job you did. I wanted to make one, but couldn't find the magazine she found the pattern in and I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to make it like you did....way to go, yours looks fantastic. What is the name of the pattern that created the monkey face? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Love it!

What a great quilt, especially with the grey monkeys seeming to face into the background.
