    Default Hand Baste or Pin?

Do you hand baste or pin when preparing for quiliting? Fairly new to quilting and just wondering what the majority seem to do. I am thinking it is more quicker to pin but more secure to hand baste. What are your thoughts?

Neither. I use Elmer's Glue. Unless you're hand quilting and then I'd stick with thread basting or having it long arm basted. And if you're going to thread baste I'd use Sharon Schamber's board method which works really well. She has videos on youtube.

I hate pins. Hate them! I thread baste on my q-nap quilt frame using Sharon Schamber's method (except on a frame).

I squeeze out a fairly thin line and just sort of zig zag it across the batting and then smooth down the backing fabric first, iron it out smooth and then flip it over and do the same with the top. So far I've only done smaller things but I think it should work just as well for bigger things. I think there's a tutorial in the tutorial section of the board.

I use liquid school glue to baste all my quilts for fmq....not sure how well it would work for hand quilting.
