So, I squared it up, cut the binding, and had 3/4's of the binding done on the machine, when I froze. I hadn't quilted it. Good grief. So now it's seam ripper time to take the binding off, then hope that I can still quilt it without messing things up. I'll probably do SID, which sounds safe.
Am I the first to make this mistake??
there are NO mistakes just happy changes.

I'm sorry that happened but it did start my morning off with a laugh. I'm laughing because I can see myself going along thinking I'm following the correct process too and letting my thoughts get ahead of me and then doing the same thing. Hope it was easy to fix.

Yes, I have! And, I have quilted part and sewn on the binding only to realize that I had not quilted the border first. Did not take out the binding and it worked out just fine!

I have, and then quilted on the frame with my sewing machine. Came out fine.

If you're machine quilting on a frame, you could just baste a strip of fabric to top, bottom and sides of the backing, mount it on the frame, and quilt the quilt. Take the basted fabric off the quilt when done.
