    Default Long Arm Needle Alignment

I found it difficult to get the needle turned to the angle I wanted. I used to put a pin in it to see the angle, but that did not work out too well for me. Was at the Schaumburg IL quilt and sewing expo and ran into the Cathy with At The Heart Of Quilting and she showed us this neat little magnet which latches onto the grove in the needle and provides a visual of the degrees the needle is turned.
I think the picture will describe what I'm talking about better than I can.
Thank you Cathy for providing this.

Thanks for this tip. One thing though. If the machine is computerized is there a possibility that a magnet can wipe the computer, even a small magnet?
    Thanks again.
    peace

Unless you put the magnet directly on the computer I really don't think it will have any effect. IMHO.

I have a very small screw driver that I place the end in the cruve of the needle to line it up. I works the same way. As for the magnet on a computerize machine it shouldn't matter. I use the magnets on the belly bar and it doen't affect my computer.

Wow,what great idea. I too have problems with aligning the needle just right. I eyeball it but this little magnet would definitely make things much easier. Does it have a raised flange on it that fixes into the needle's groove?

No flange, but, the flat part of the magnet attaches to the ridges of the groove and sits perfect for aligning the needle.
