I want to know also. I'm thinking about using my table saw. I know everyone doesn't have one, but you have friends? I would put a piece of board over the mat when putting it through the blade, and use a "pusher" to hold it down firmly. Never done it, but may. I have an old cutting mat I'm ready to cut up.

I went to the first link and wow, pretty neat bag! But, the directions were SO confusing! I consider myself a pretty experienced quilter and no way did I understand the directions regarding the "holes" or corners. Anyone else have this issue?

The tote bags I use for groceries have a plastic in the bottom that help to support the bottom of the bag. You can get the plastic cutting boards and cut to size for the bottom. I have bought them before at a dollar store 2 for $1.00.

There was one on the Missouri Quilt Co. just the other day. Does not have to be patched, but I thought the instructions were good and made one for a granddaughter. Easy.

You should watch the YouTube video by Debbie Shore who does a lined tote bag. Clear and easy, you can make it any size you want. I have heard of the suggestion for using the plastic grids from craft stores and I think that's probably the best for the bottom of you bag. The other suggestion is to cut up old plastic cutting sheets...they are about $1.25 each and can be cut in half lengthwise.
