    Default Hawaiian Inspired Baby Quilt

I made this for a co-worker's baby. Her husband is half Hawaiian and the baby has an Hawaiian name--Kalina. So I thought it appropriate to make something Hawaiian. The applique in the middle is a "breadfruit" pattern. I didn't needle turn applique it--something I've never tried. I used my machine to blanket stitch around it--which was pretty tedious.

It's beautiful and the colors are just lovely - and how clever of you to make a Hawaiian center medallion. I've always wanted to make an Hawaiian quilt but just the thought of making a huge applique stopped me. Knowing that a smaller version has just as much impact is inspiring.

Very nice bread fruit pattern and a wonderful sense of colors. I like your idea and might just use it.

Thanks for the nice comments. I learned quite a bit making this quilt--I think if I made a second would it be so much nicer--but it was very appreciated and that's all that matters.
