    Default New and a question

Good morning all from Arkansas. Getting back into quilting, more so after I have back surgery in August. Hope all are doing well this morning and have lots of quilting to do. Question, SIL and I are "trying" to do the Women of Courage quilt. Having some problems cutting small pieces. Looked at the Alto's Quiltcut 2 at a show in Hot Springs, AR and passed it up. Now wondering if that is really what we need. Would love everyone's thoughts on this. Plus, I have found several Quiltcut original on Craigs list and Amazon. Can't really figure out the difference, does anyone know. The original ranges from 100.00 to 150.00 and the new one is 229.00. All of this is without shipping of course. Need all the help I can get, please. Ginger

Welcome to the board from Corpus Christi, Tx. I can't help much with the cutters but as with any other purchase consider if the ones on Craigslist and Amazon are missing something or in good working condition and still under warranty and for how long. So with those considerations and concerns, if you're planning on using it often, I would go with new and under warranty versus, original/used and not under warranty. I would also be checking LQS to see if they have any.

I agree with this and was told that the ones from the company do have a warranty. They are also supposed to be very good to work with. what is the LQS?

LQS is 'local quilt shop'. I don't believe most carry the Alto's quilt cut. Friend of mine has it and loves it. If I wasn't so cheap, I'd have one myself. They really are very nice. Don't know that you really need to worry about a warranty. About the only thing that I think would ever go bad on them is the mat, which I don't believe they warrant anyhow - but they are replaceable. I would not hesitate to buy used as long as the seller assured me there were no broken parts, etc. and the price was right.

Good luck and welcome from NJ.
