"All parts of Datura plants contain dangerous levels of poison and may be fatal if ingested by humans and other animals, including livestock and pets. "

I think that is a trumpet vine, at least that is what we call it. I have one that is growing like crazy this year and is spreading out of the flower bed it is planted in.

It's a Moonflower and blooms in the late afternoon and night. I'm located on the Florida-Alabama line, about a hour from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. I have them growing in my backyard now and they do come back year after year. After the blooms are gone, a seed pod appears and when you let this pod dry out completely, you will have hundreds of seed to plant the next year.

I had them in my garden ONCE and found out they are so poisonous. They are called Datura. We have a dog. We have neighbors kids and I will not allow them in the yard. I have also advised neighbors and as of this moment there is nary a Datura in our neighborhood. Edie

PS - Those seedpods are bad, bad, bad!

These are not Datura. It has smaller flowers and the throat is purple. Datura is what farmers call Jimson weed and grows in old hog lots. My daughter found one growing in her flower garden in town, and likes it so it is not a weed to her. We had these that you are calling Moon flowers growing when I grew up and called them Flowering Jimsons. My friend calls them Moon Flowers so I would think that is what they are.

From looking at pictures on google, it looks more like the angel trumpet to me, which was my first thought. The moonflower looks more like a climbing vine.
