I am DEFINITELY going to have to try this!! We back up to a cow pasture, and the flies are unbelievable - so we do not use our covered back porch much.......and I am constantly cleaning the fly specs off the white window and sliding door frames along with porch railings.........

Yeah, might be a bit difficult scrounging for pennies or any copper coins for that matter. We don't use them any more so can't easily test your theory.

Actually, our pennies don't have much copper in them anymore. According to the US Mint website, they are 97.5 percent zinc and 2.5 percent copper (copper-plated zinc) and have been since 1982. From 1962 until 1982 they were 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc. I hate flys! I'm going to have to try this for sure

I am doing windows and screens right now, and I sure am going to try this. I despise flies and our neighbor has horses and is not real good about keeping the muck cleaned up. Sure hope this will help

I don't know if this will work or not, but you know what? This is totally inexpensive and easy enough to try. If it works - GREAT! If not, what have I lost but a baggie, some water and a few pennies (that if I want to, I can retrieve from the water and put back in my coin jar).

That was my exact question!! We don't have many flies but we do have mosquitoes and yellow jackets.

It works like a charm. I have an open with a roof deck upstairs and same down stairs and I hung them on each outside post and on each side of the doors. I was over run with flys and now I only get a few now and then.
