"I really want to start 2014 with much less UFO baggage and try out life as a quilter who makes new things and finishes them too." Asimplelife, you nailed it, that totally sums it up for me. I only completed five UFOs this year, so far, but that puts me in a much better place than I was in at the beginning of the year. If I could complete one per month Oct, Nov and Dec; that would put me over half way through my pile.

An admirable goal . I'm using 1" pieces for the 9P's. These are my own "precuts". In other words trimmings from backings or that leftover strip when cutting squares from wof for another project. They all go in my 1" pan. I have 460 of them so far. Here's what 400 of them look like

Oh my... those ARE mini! Love your picture oksewglad.

Emma S. - I think I'm going to write down that quote because that does sum it up. Finishing things is very liberating... my Mom is my biggest cheerleader of all because she knows me so well and has finished up several of my leftovers and/or rescued me over the decades. The other day we were talking and she commented that it's not like I'm obsessed with quilting as in letting other things go - I can be an All-or-nothing person too - because I've been reading lots of books and keeping up with my garden, got my quilting room put together, getting meals on the table etc.

I had to think about that a bit... but I certainly do feel "lighter" and it seems easier to keep up with my other tasks than it used to. It's hard to take on new projects in any part of life when you can't trust yourself to finish it!

UFOs? Oh yeah, so not working on those! He he

I am working on Patchwork Party 2013 blocks, I finished cutting for Stars Over Fort Sumpter (yummy civil war pink and chocolate) and cutting for my leader ender (tonga batiks Lollipop, 16 patches and stars). I am such a bad example!

Hi everyone!

I've been trying this year to put a dent in my UFOs and ongoing projects. This weekend I am very pleased to report that I finished two UFO tops finished, the backing and binding prepped for one, the other I need to go shopping for backing. I also worked some on a third.

Wahoo! To celebrate, I broke into a bundle of 9FQs I picked up the week before, add some yardage and I am one final border away from having that top done.

I mentioned this on an earlier thread, I'm amazed that some projects take years to finish and others I can do up in a day.

OK: Did you ever think of therapy. I'm almost sure you can be helped. LOL
Life: Since the weather as turned to fall I've been obsessed with quilting. We won't even talk about the condition my house is in, the only saving grace is that its only my dog and I, so I only have one witness and he can't talk.
Fraew: The only reason I'm not right there with you is that I am afraid I would totally lose my momentum and never get back to the UFOs.
Viv: Saw and loved your blue and white. Would love to see the second finish.

One of my quilt guild friends told me I needed therapy. I replied "But this is my therapy!" as she hands me a bag full of her tiny pieces. What an enabler she is!

Last night got a small quilt FMQ--now to get it bound and have one down xxxxx to go. Next project is a UFO that's lingered since 09. Sis's BD is 9-9 and for her BD that year I gave her 9 quilted gifts--well actually only 8 as this is #9 so when I go to visit her in 3 weeks I can take it to her.

This month I want to finish a quilt for my son. He actually pieced all the blocks and started quilting (QAYG), but he got bored with it before finishing...so there it's sat. He said a couple weeks ago when I finished the airplane quilt "will you finish my quilt for me?" His birthday is the end of October...so figure that is a good goal. It is all flannel and he's looking forward to having a warm quilt on his bed this winter.

Here is my table topper for Christmas. I need to pick up some backing so I can quilt it. I checked my book and I started it October 16, 2012. I always like to make a note in the front cover or on the pattern page so I'll remember significant dates. So if I can get some backing in the next week, I may have it done before it's a year old.

What a pretty table topper YViv! The little chickadee fabric is so precious.
Reminds me of the SYE blocks doesn't it carrie?

Glad you have another quilt to work on carrie.

Have all the blocks (9) SID on my DS quilt. Now to start some FMQ.
