If you are planning to sale the house, I don't think it would be a good idea to remove walls. Your space is great. Stairs are for the young.

if taking down a wall does not infringe on anyone else's private space, then, by all means, DO IT!!! Make your quilt studio as big as you can and fill it with shelving, storage, all things quilty and brightness. Surround yourself there with all things you love and that make you happy. Paint it your favorite color. Be happy and you will be creative!!

I think your room looks great my only question is why do people always put their sewing machine against a wall I have mine away from the wall the fabric glides much nice. Just Askin!!

The reason mine is against the wall is that I ran out of space...the quilting frame and Juki take up most of the room and is away from the walls so I can get around both sides.... I would love to have it away from the wall...if we ever move to a one story home (cause I'm getting too old to go up and down those stairs) I would love to have a big old enclosed sun room to put my sewing/quilting room into! In my perfect world!

Thanks everyone...it's getting there...still have more to do...just have a bunch of projects that I have to knock out right now...we are expecting rain here in Central Texas off and on all weekend, figure that's a good reason to stay in the sewing room and work! Happy Weekend!
