Zippered pouches and bags are always great gifts. There are tons of free tutes online. Have a look here:

Oopsie- thanks for pointing out the potential hazard there- I was referring to candles that come in their own glass!!!

I've made little mini quilts (3x4) to glue inside a trifold note card. I like to keep sets of 4 around for quick house/thank you gifts during the year. I have an embroidery machine and I sometimes embroider design to insert into the cards too.

I have made these small card holders which could be put together using silk ties remnants, or 2inch squares. I just used a fat quarter. The pattern used I posted on my blog. It is basically only 2 main pieces with a divider and small single card pocket (which would be great for adding a gift card in). They take only about 20 minutes to make. I think I might make a few and add a Tim Hortons coffee card in it for teachers gifts this year.

here is a pic of the pin cushion. I ironed the fabric on freezer paper and ran it through my printer. I was able to get 4 printed out. they are about 3 x 3 in size.

I love that pin cushion with the quote. Thanks for the pic. That really helped me to visualize it much better. Thanks everyone for all the ideas.

I found my larger mitts pattern and fabrics, modified the pattern to be mini-mitts. I have made 20 of these mini-mitts since yesterday. Will make a bunch more to donate for the gift table at a Christmas event.
Thank you for posting the link.

This year I am giving retro styled aprons with a couple of matching potholders. Some are holiday fabric, some are not...depending on how soon I get them sent out! Kids love aprons too :-)
