I've used double batting lots of times- I have one customer who often wants a wool batting along with a cotton batting- the quilting shows up beautifully with wonderful definition when using double battings. did you have questions-beyond, has any one done it? I can not remember who it is---but one of the 'Big, Nationally known quilters has been using double battings for years- I first heard about it & tried it about 10 years ago

I quilted a "show" quilt for a customer using Pellon Legacy 80/20 with scrim on the bottom and Poly on the top - turned out beautifully! Her applique looked like faux trapunto. iIcan't post any pictures as she hasn't given me the go ahead yet.

I didn't have any problems (and I quilt ALOT of quilt for customers) and am sure I will do it again in the future.

WOW! I never thought of using two layers of Hobbs batting. I would assume that if you used Warm & Natural, the quilt would be very heavy.

For those of you that double bat, do you actually use the quilt or is it just for show?

all of the ones I've used double battings in are used-bed quilts. I love the ones with hobbs 80/20 heirloom & hobbs wool together best- they are lightweight, lofty, showcase the quilting; are fabulously beautiful quilts- they hold up well to laundering - if I could afford it I would quilt them all this way.

Thank for all the responses. Am concerned also as to how my avante will handle it. Will the size of the needle make a difference?
