Default Mexican Star

Has anyone made a Mexican Star quilt? I saw a pattern, but it only made a 44 x 44 quilt and I want a queensize. How hard do you think it would be to either make more blocks or set it on point surrounded by plain fabric with maybe a border of small stars? Am I getting in over my head? Should I look for another pattern? All advice gratefully accepted.

It is a beautiful pattern and set on point would work to enlarge it. You could do fancy quilting in the plain triangles.

I just finished making 2 of the small size Mexican Star table toppers. The constructions was very easy and I also wondered about making the blocks bigger for a regular size quilt. I don't know how to enlarge a pattern but I'm sure someone here can tell us how. Good luck.

There's a few pictures of quilts made larger. I can't see the pdf at the moment from quiltnNan link but I like where you have the 3D effect on the wallhanging pattern. This picture from google looks beautiful because it has plain fabrics around it. If you do the whole quilt with the block it looks really busy IMHO.

I have been thinking about making a large one by putting in more stars - this version would be 107" with borders.

Here are links to a couple on QB - perhaps they'll give you some ideas or you can PM the OP. Would love to see what you come up with. This is one that is on my short list.

Thanks for the link. Friend of mine is from Mexico and is learning how to quilt. She'll like this.

Is that the pattern, Nancy? Or is this the one?
